A Little More Game of Thrones: Choosing Your Favorite Scene from the Final Season

Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones

The next year has come to an end, and almost all of its results have been summed up, but some events and phenomena will be remembered for a long time. And one of them was the release of the final season of Game of Thrones, which fans of the show have been waiting for with great curiosity, impatience and excitement. And although the series seems to have already washed all the bones, and even the most avid fans of the fantasy saga are already tired of its discussions, we decided to once again recall the most iconic, brilliant and cult moments of the final season of the series.

Arya Stark First Sex

And the girl is ripe! In the second episode of the final season, Arya Stark lost her virginity with Gendry in love with her. We have seen a lot of bed scenes in the entire history of Game of Thrones, and this one can hardly be called the most frank and spectacular. However, the fact that Arya Stark was involved in it, who in the series was much more interested in war than love, gave her a special piquancy. As well as the fact that Arya, and with her the actress Maisie Williams, actually grew up in front of the audience: after the episode was released, many admitted that they were extremely embarrassed to watch their “little Arya” have sex.

Maisie Williams did not nude in the sex scene – the creators of the show also went to meet the star, who did not force her to do this.

This scene is not about that at all. Besides, why should she be naked if everyone on the show has already done it,

– rightly noted Williams.

Death of the dragon Rhaegal

For all eight seasons of the series, Daenerys Targaryen’s children, her dragons, have become like family to us. The kids grew and got stronger before our eyes, and from series to series we observed their “maturation”. So when the second dragon, Daenerys Rhaegal, was killed in the third episode of the eighth season, we were in a real shock. The dragon, upon which a whole line of spears of the army of Euron Greyjoy fell, died a heroic death.

Execution of Missandei

There was no doubt that many deaths would await us in the finale of the saga – even in the first season, the creators of the series made it clear that they would sacrifice the main characters without a twinge of conscience.

Missandei, of course, cannot be called a key heroine, but their pair with the Gray Worm was one of the most touching in this series. The episode with her execution was especially spectacular – they killed Missandei in front of her lover.

Brienne Tart’s Knighting

Someone who, and Brienne of Tart deserved the knighthood, in our opinion, in the middle of the series. Brave and brave, she proved herself to be a valiant warrior. Justice triumphed only in the final season, when Jaime Lannister finally knighted Brienne.

Brienne Tart and Jaime Lannister sex

The warm relationship between Brienne and Jaime did not develop immediately: at first he was her prisoner, and she considered him her sworn enemy. However, over time, they became more than just friends. Brienne clearly fell in love with Jaime, and although he loved his sister Cersei, he began to have tender feelings for Tart. They ended up sleeping in the final season. Moreover, Brienne’s Jaime was the first man.

Murder of the King of the Night

You can argue about who was the main villain in the series for a long time. But most will probably agree that it was the King of the Night – the leader, as they would now call him, the army of the White Walkers.

For eight seasons, the main characters developed a plan to destroy him, because it was not so easy to kill him. Ultimately, the Night King fell at the hands of Arya Stark, who drove a dragon glass blade into him.

Madness Daenerys

Until the eighth season, Daenerys Targaryen was presented to the audience as a fair warrior, one who could take the Iron Throne and reign until the end of her days, to the delight of all local residents. However, by the end of the series, the Mother of Dragons has ceased to be that very sweet and kind blonde Denis, which we saw at the beginning of the show, and turned into a cruel and maddened evil queen.

In the fifth episode, Daenerys, who seriously intended to take the Iron Throne, climbed onto her dragon Drogon and flew to capture King’s Landing. Forgetting what mercy is, the Mother of Dragons began to burn everything in her path. Neither children, nor women, nor other civilians touched her heart. She did not stop even when the bells rang, signaling that the capital was surrendering. Daenerys achieved her goal: she captured King’s Landing. But at what cost!

Battle of the Dog and the Mountain

The battle between the two brothers, Sandor and Gregor Clegane, was one of the most impressive in the entire series. So much hatred and thirst for revenge had accumulated in both of them, that it was clear: the fight would not end with a couple of cuffs, we would still see at least one death. Showrunners, however, added drama to the fullest and “killed” both brothers. As a result, the Dog and the Mountain fell together from the burning fortress of the Red Castle.

Death of Cersei and Jaime Lannister

The moment of death of brother and sister Jaime and Cersei Lannister was one of the most touching in the entire series. He loved his sister to madness, despite all her cruelty, the noble Jaime decided that he could not bear life without her (and after all, who knows, if he had stayed with Brienne, everything could have turned out quite differently!). Therefore, if it is not possible to save her, he will die with her.

Jaime and Cersei died in the basements of the Red Castle, which collapsed after Daenerys’ mad attack. The tragedy of the moment was given by the fact that Cersei was expecting a child from Jaime.

Jon Snow’s assassination of Daenerys Targaryen

Obviously, waiting for a happy ending in “Game of Thrones” was stupid – after all, this is not a romantic Hollywood melodrama, where, as a result, all the main characters find love and find happiness. Therefore, when the love union of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen loomed on the horizon, the audience realized that it would not end well.

At first, it turned out that their relationship was generally incest, but this did not serve as an obstacle to their relationship (well, just think, aunt and nephew, and they’ve seen worse!). But then a much more serious reason appeared: Daenerys suddenly became insanely greedy for power, cruel and obsessed. Well, as John was a man of honor, he remained so. In general, as they say now, they did not agree.

To save the world, John was ready to sacrifice everything, even his own love. Seeing his beloved in anger, he realized that if Daenerys was not killed, then she would still do a bunch of troubles and would not even flinch, therefore, passionately kissing her goodbye, he pierced her chest with a sword.

Accession to the throne of Bran Stark

Throughout the season, viewers wondered who would take the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms. Among the main candidates named Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark. But it seems that no one expected such an ending!

When, at the council, Tyrion Lannister proposed Bran Stark for this position, everyone in the audience was a little taken aback. But then, after listening to fair arguments in his favor, this candidacy was supported. Unfortunately, the audience could not appreciate how successful the reign of Bran was, but I want to believe that good still triumphed.

Jon Snow Link

Well, how else to call this exile of the protagonist, who, one might say, saved the world by killing Daenerys, and in the end was sent to serve in the Night Watch until his death (so-so business trip, of course) without the possibility of creating a family and gaining personal happiness? We add that Bran Stark, whom he loved as a brother, decided to send John to a place where eternal winter reigns.

Snow, who cannot sit idle, and he no longer needs to guard the wall, because the army of the King of the Night is now defeated, joined the ranks of the wildlings and went wherever they looked.
