The prestigious Black Entertainment Awards took place in Los Angeles yesterday, honoring African Americans and other minorities in the United States for their achievements in music, acting, sports and other fields. This year, the ceremony was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, so viewers could watch everything that happened on their screens live.

The host of the BET Awards 2020 was Amanda Seal, who introduced the nominees and performers to the audience. The leader in the number of nominations this year was rapper Drake – there were six of them, five each for rapper Megan Thee Stallion and rapper Roddy Ricch, four each for Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Lizzo and DaBaby.

This year, the eight-year-old daughter of rapper Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, was also nominated for the award. The girl was honored for her work on Brown Skin Girl, one of the songs on the official soundtrack of “The Lion King”. As a result, the little girl managed to bypass her rivals in the nomination and pick up the statuette – even if virtually.

Naomi Campbell, Michelle Obama and many others also appeared during the broadcast of the ceremony. The American soul duo of sisters Chloe x Halle, Jennifer Hudson, rapper Lil Wayne and others delighted the audience with their online performances. By the way, the latter performed a song at the ceremony in memory of the tragically deceased basketball player Kobe Bryant.
