The TV channel “Russia 1” has presented on the network a new trailer for its main film premiere of the season – the serial film “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” based on the novel of the same name by the writer Guzeli Yakhina. The Tatar peasant woman, who became a victim of the repressions of the 1930s, was played by the actress Chulpan Khamatova. Julia Peresild, Sergey Makovetsky, Elena Shevchenko, Roman Madyanov and other actors worked with her on the project.
Zuleikha’s husband is killed, and she herself is sent to Siberia along with thirty other exiles. People of different faiths and different backgrounds are united by the harsh conditions of life in the wilderness without food, shelter and warm clothing. Having united, they begin to defend their right to life.
Guzel Yakhina won the Big Book reader’s vote and became the 2018 GQ Super Women laureate. Her novel “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” was named one of the most popular books of the 2010s.
The first season of the television series “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” will consist of eight episodes, but it is not yet known when they will be released.
